Blood Splatter FAILLLL

In an earlier post, I informed you about a blood splatter effect using a party cannon, cling film and fake blood. The theory and testing behind it were sound. Me and Joel first tested it with water and worked brilliantly and again had a quick go on shoot day. 

However, the goal posts suddenly changed at the last minute and Christi wanted us to shoot down at the floor instead of what originally was planned, at a wall. I had a fair few goes at trying to shoot it within the frame and where Jim's head would be hitting but the cannon is a lot more powerful than you would think and the majority of the blood splatter always ended out of shot no matter how vertically I held the cannon. Time was definitely getting on at five in the morning tempers were rising as we were all tired and we decided that we just needed to smear blood already on the floor to get the shot.
